Join us in Mohican Country as we “Explore the World with Environmental Education” at the 49th Annual EECO Conference. Attendees have the opportunity to renew and reconnect with fellow educators of all kinds. Whether formal or informal, volunteer or paid staff, new or experienced, we offer you an opportunity to learn new techniques, ideas and share experiences. No matter what your environmental education setting is, this conference aims to help create new experiences in all fields.

Keynote:
Giant Salamanders Around the World Greg Lipps shares his experiences with giant salamanders around the world and Ohio’s giant salamander, the Eastern Hellbender. He explains what’s being done to reverse the dramatic decline of Hellbenders right here in Ohio.  Greg Lipps is the Amphibian & Reptile Conservation Coordinator for the Ohio Biodiversity Con-servation Partnership at Ohio State University.


Conference strands include:

  • Using the Out-of-Doors as a teaching tool:  The outdoors is a great place to teach all areas of the curriculum and all age groups. Why should we take students outside? Feature methods, activities and/or research
  • Environmetal Education, STEM and Careers: Importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and the role of EE in STEM and Career education
  • Natural History: Exploring the natural world – building knowledge about life science, physical science and earth science
  • Finding Funding: How are EE professionals around the state funding their activities, building a donor base, grant funding, partnerships and building capacity
