Ohio's Environmental Education Certification Program

If you are a formal or non-formal educator, you should consider earning a professional certification in Environmental Education (EE). This program includes a week-long workshop and independent projects that will refine your EE skills. Learn more about the Environmental Education Certification competencies and policies.

Ohio's program was developed using the national competencies from the North American Association for Environmental Education

The 2024-2025 EE Cert Class information is here.  The EE Cert flyer can be downloaded here

You can earn two graduate credits from Kent State University by completing the Environmental Education Certification Program. Credits are from the College of Education, School of Teaching and Learning.

Ohio’s Environmental Education Certification Program is changing.  We are working to make the course easier for participants by adding an online component.  The online component will not replace the in-person component, but it will allow the program to utilize other resources and allow us to use our in-person workshop time more effectively.  The competencies and policies will not change, nor will recertification requirements, so please feel free to look at those references.  If you have any other specific questions, please contact the coordinator Jennifer Bucheit

Why is Environmental Education Certification so great? Hear first-hand from a former educator why EECO's certification program is top-notch!
